 MEASURING ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION
|
The photon
flux of UV radiation (250 to 400 nm) can be expressed as a percentage of the
Photosynthetic Photon Flux (PPF = 400 to
700 nm).
The unit for both UV and PPF is µmol m-2 s-1.
The total photon flux of UV radiation from sunlight is close to 8.5 % of the PPF
in
sunlight. The photosynthetic photon flux at noon in full sunlight is
about 2000 µmol m-2 s-1 and the photon flux of UV radiation is about
170 µmol m-2 s-1. |
